Plan for Two, and for Space
The RSPCA says rabbits need the company of another rabbit, and that both rabbits in a pair should be neutered. So plan for two rabbits, and for neutering at a vet. The space is the bigger cost: the RSPCA’s minimum for two medium-sized rabbits is 3 x 2 x 1 metres, which in a flat usually means a rabbit-proofed room. Read rabbit cage and pen setup before you buy anything.
What the Price Covers
- A vet check. Our pets go home once, so our vet checks every one before it leaves.
- A care sheet and a pet card, and us on WhatsApp for any question after you buy.
- Delivery, free across Delhi NCR on your area’s delivery day.
A lower price is no bargain if the pet was not health-checked or the seller disappears after the sale. Our guide to choosing a healthy rabbit shows what to check, whoever you buy from.
One-Time Costs From Our Shop
These are the things we sell that a rabbit needs. Prices are our shop prices of 31 October 2026.
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| C&C Playpen, 28 x 28 Inches | ₹3,500 | A base or a play area, not the full space |
| Cotton Hiding Den | ₹1,300 | For guinea pigs and rabbits, with two pillows |
| Water Bottle, 80 ml | ₹250 | The RSPCA says rabbits tend to prefer a heavy bowl, so many people use both |
| Plastic Pet Carrier | ₹1,300 | For vet visits |
| Fresh Grass Hay, 1 kg | ₹325 | The first pack of hay |
| Timothy Hay Pellets, 400 g | ₹280 | A small ration each day, next to hay |
| Together | About ₹7,000 | Before the rabbits, a litter tray, the room and the vet |
Two rabbits at ₹750 each are ₹1,500. A litter tray and paper-based litter, a heavy bowl and greens come from your local market or shop. Neutering and any vaccinations are at your vet, so ask for a quote before you decide.
Monthly Cost: Hay First
Hay is the main running cost, and rabbits eat more of it than guinea pigs. The RSPCA says to give a bundle as big as the rabbit every day. We have measured how long a pack lasts for guinea pigs (see the hay guide) but not for rabbits, so we do not give a rabbit total. Pick a bigger pack than you would for guinea pigs, and see hay delivery.
Pellets you can count. The RSPCA ration is about 25 g for every kilogram of the rabbit, so a 2 kg rabbit gets about 50 g a day, or 1.5 kg a month. At ₹550 for 1 kg of Timothy Hay Pellets that is about ₹825 a month. Add washed greens from the market, bedding or litter, and the vet. Rabbits live about 7 to 10 years on average, says PDSA, so plan for the whole time, including someone to care for them when you travel: we board rabbits (see guinea pig and rabbit boarding).
Cheap Listings: What to Check
Classified sites sometimes list rabbits for very little. Before you buy from anyone, including us, check these:
- Are the eyes clear, the nose clean and the bottom clean and dry?
- Is it eating, moving about and breathing quietly?
- Can the seller tell you its age and whether it is a boy or a girl, and show you how they know?
- Will the seller answer your questions after you take it home?
Rabbit Price Questions
How much does a rabbit cost in India?
It depends on the seller. At our farm in Sector 109, today’s price is in the table on this page, straight from our shop. Whoever you buy from, ask about the health check, the age, the sex and the help you get after the sale, not only the price.
Do I need two rabbits?
The RSPCA says rabbits need the company of another suitable rabbit, and that both rabbits in a pair should be neutered. Plan for two, and ask your vet about neutering.
How much does it cost to keep a rabbit each month?
Hay is the main cost, and we have no measured rabbit figure to quote. Pellets for a 2 kg rabbit come to about ₹825 a month at our shop prices of 31 October 2026. Add greens, litter and the vet.
What does a rabbit need before it comes home?
A room or large pen with a solid, non-slip floor, hay that never runs out, a water bowl, a hiding place, a litter tray, and a carrier for the vet. The set-up guide has the full list.
Is a rabbit cheaper than a guinea pig?
To buy, today a rabbit is cheaper than a single guinea pig in our shop. To keep, a rabbit needs far more space and eats more hay, so compare the whole cost, not the price tag. See guinea pig, rabbit or hamster.
Do you deliver rabbits across Delhi NCR?
Yes. We deliver rabbits across Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, on your area’s delivery day, and delivery is free. Pets are booked with 5% by UPI; the rest you pay on delivery.
